Build a cleaning kit around your surfaces
A useful cleaning setup is easy to store, simple to maintain, and suited to the floors and finishes in your home.
Inventory the surfaces
List your floor types and delicate finishes before selecting tools. Follow the surface manufacturer’s care instructions. Steam, abrasive pads, and strong chemicals are not appropriate for every finish, even when a tool is marketed for general household use.
Compare the upkeep as well as the tool
For a powered cleaner, check filter care, brush maintenance, replacement parts, consumables, and storage dimensions. A convenient design becomes less useful when routine cleaning or replacement parts are difficult to manage.
Consider the way you move through your home
Think about stairs, available outlets, furniture clearance, and the weight you can comfortably handle. If comparing cordless tools, read the conditions attached to runtime claims; power settings and accessories can change the result.
Use products according to their labels
Keep cleaning products in their original containers and follow the label instructions. Do not mix cleaning chemicals. Store products away from children and pets, and use ventilation and protective equipment where the label requires them.
